Silent Resolve

Silent Resolve reflects on the quiet persistence of the inner life. A solitary figure walks slowly along a stony riverbank, absorbed in thought, his posture slightly bent as though carrying something unseen. Dressed in a pale shirt and dark Wellington boots, he moves through the muted landscape with measured calm, holding a small object in his hand — perhaps a stone gathered from the shore, perhaps a private keepsake. Its ambiguity leaves the painting open, inviting the viewer into their own act of reflection.

Painted in Glasgow, the work forms part of an ongoing exploration of memory, presence, and spiritual identity within the landscape. The subdued greys, softened blues, and still water create an atmosphere suspended between observation and recollection, where the natural world becomes inseparable from the emotional state of the figure moving through it.
