Shadow III — from the Shadows series

In Shadow III, a dark figure reaches upwards, extending one arm towards the edge of the image. The open hand becomes the focal point of the composition, suspended against layers of orange, red and yellow.

The figure is reduced to silhouette, yet the gesture gives it a distinct emotional presence. It might suggest reaching, searching, signalling or an attempt to touch something beyond the limits of the body. Its meaning remains deliberately unresolved.

Layers of screenprinted colour overlap and shift across the surface, leaving visible traces of texture, imperfect registration and the printing process itself. Parts of the figure appear solid while others begin to fragment into the surrounding colour.

Part of the Shadows series, the print explores the shadow as both a physical trace of the human body and an image of something less tangible — presence without identity, a moment held briefly before it disappears.
