Fisher Net

Fisher Net explores the fragile boundary between freedom and entanglement. A dark female silhouette moves within the delicate structure of a fisherman’s net, suspended between capture and release, presence and disappearance. The net stretches across the surface like a drawing in space — protective and restrictive at once — holding the figure within a shifting web of memory, emotion, and thought.

Built through layered gestures of oil paint in blue, grey, cream, and black, the work evokes water, weathered surfaces, and the quiet instability of recollection. The figure appears less as a portrait than as a trace emerging through atmosphere, as though formed from the very textures surrounding her.

The painting does not attempt to resolve whether the figure is trapped or choosing to remain within the net. Instead, it lingers within that uncertainty.
